About Soul Splatter

Soul Splatter is a Creative Arts workshop founded and facilitated by Jessica Nguyen. Soul Splatter is more than just splattering paint; it is an embodied experience for participants to release emotions and express themselves. You will be guided through a process of getting grounded into your body, intention setting, mixing and splattering paint!

We tend to hold emotions in our bodies that we are not even aware of. Grounding ourselves into the present moment and moving the stagnant energy out of our bodies can be the first step towards a more emotionally regulated lifestyle. Whether you are looking for a release, a new way to express yourself, or just to have fun, Soul Splatter is a one of a kind experience and will have you thinking outside of the box!

This experience will challenge your conditioned thought processes and will allow you to express yourself fully as you work through the feelings that come up of having to "stay inside the lines" and perfectionism.  Soul Splatter uses paints from Natural Earth Paint. They are all natural, water-soluble paints that are made from different clays and minerals throughout the world and are safe to use outdoors as they are biodegradable.

I am an Alchemist and Artist from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, who found freedom in abstract art and found a way to share my experience with others. I struggled with my mental health and substance abuse since 2004, and decided to commit to my recovery journey in July of 2019. I attended a dual diagnosis treatment center in Tennessee for three months and then was referred to continue treatment in San Diego, CA. After spending 11 months in the program, I decided to stay in San Diego and create a life for myself.

I know my purpose in this lifetime is to help people tap into their authentic selves. By questioning myself and my actions, I discovered that I was conditioned by my multicultural upbringing and society to stay small. I always knew my mission was bigger than I could have imagined, I just didn’t know what or how. I had to face a lot of truths, put in the work to change my behaviors and thought processes and how to accept things I did not have control over.

In November 2020, I was sitting alone on my couch, contemplating my life and where it was going. Out of no where I had a thought and clear vision of myself splattering paint as a child and knew it meant something more. After sitting with this thought for a few days, I discussed it with my best friend and my counselor at the time and they agreed that there was potential for something great. I had to move through a lot of self doubt, imposter syndrome and learn how to trust myself and that my intuition was leading me to where I needed to be. I discovered the program SCORE and found a mentor who loved my idea and showed me where and how to begin!

About Jessica Nguyen

After a year of processing and six months of working with my mentor, I held my first workshop with my friends in November 2021 and the feedback I received was beyond what I expected. Another reason I found alignment within Soul Splatter was that on the day of my first workshop, I was only 30 yards away from a yoga class that I once attended weekly with my treatment center. Seeing this group of women while hosting my first workshop was surreal because two years prior I was sitting in that same class not having a clue what lied ahead for me and my future.

The message of Soul Splatter is to spread self-love and self-empowerment while facing the fears that hold us back from being our authentic selves. I have found that the key to my healing is to face the parts of me that I fear the most, while being kind and compassionate to myself while still having fun. Another key I found to my healing is to connect with nature and that is why I decided to hold my modalities outside!

My life has completely transformed from a place of fear, addiction, self doubt and hurt to a beautiful life filled with awareness, action, grace, and love. I never imagined my life to be what it is today and I remain grateful everyday that I chose to keep moving forward even in the darkest of times.

I continue to expand my knowledge in holistic healing practices and have completed facilitator training modules in Trauma-Informed Yin Yoga, Plant Medicine, Ancestral Healing and Kundalini Yoga. I am also a certified Reiki Master, under the Usui Lineage.

About Reiki

Reiki : “spiritually guided life force energy”. “Rei” means cosmic knowledge or spiritual consciousness and “ki” means life force or non-tangible energy that animates life. Reiki is an intentional energy healing modality that promotes healing to our subtle and physical energy bodies. The practitioner will place their hands gently onto different parts of your body to channel the Reiki energy into your body where it is needed.

There are many forms of Reiki and Jessica has been attuned to the original lineage, which is the Japanese-Tibetan Reiki founded in Japan by Mikao Usui. Through this lineage she has gained the knowledge to channel Reiki Energy into her clients. Our bodies hold subtle energy points which are known as Chakras. The Chakra System originated in India and today the most common system known has been westernized into the 7 Chakras System. Using this modality, the Reiki Practitioner is able to interpret which areas need attention and then channels the Reiki energy through their hands into their client.
